Cluster: Available software and getting new applications installed

The Duke Compute Cluster already has software packages installed that most researchers need, but additional software can be added to meet research needs.

To check to see whether the software package you require is already available, do this:

Here are the requirements and the process for adding software:

  • Send request for a new software package to rescomputing@duke.edu
  • Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) is generally preferred, though accommodations for proprietary and licensed software can be made.
  • The software must run on a Linux operating system

Containerization technologies (Singularity) are being introduced to the cluster. Containerization provides additional flexibility and helps support reproducibility of research computing.
